The International Trade Association of Southwest Ohio Presents: Securing Your Supply Chain - Situational Crime Prevention

Attendees will learn:

    •        The advantages and limitations of government implemented programs

              such as C-TPAT

    •        How Situational Crime Prevention applies to supply chain security

    •        Risks associated with inadequate supply chain security

    •        Simple, cost-effective measures raw material suppliers and

manufacturers can implement to enhance supply chain security

    •        Loss Oversight Teams:  What they do and why they are effective

In the years since 9/11 a range of programs have been introduced and strengthened to try to protect both domestic and international supply chains against intentional acts of unlawful interference.  Some programs are mandatory, other programs may result in preferential treatment for those in compliance such as C-TPAT.  While government instituted programs designed to enhance supply chain security can be helpful, the real burden of security falls on the suppliers and manufacturers whose lifeblood is the supply chain.  Understanding the concepts of situational crime prevention, and the simple yet effective tactics suppliers and end users alike can implement to protect their vital supply chain can significantly reduce your risk of loss or business interruption.   Cost effective and easily implemented steps to protect both your supply of raw materials and the distribution of your finished product make good business sense, and you can take the initiative to building a more secure supply chain today!

Guest speaker Dr. Walter N. Clements, PhD, CPP is the Managing Member of The Clements Group LLC, a security management consulting firm.  Dr. Clements served as the Associate Director of Global Security for Procter & Gamble for 23 years, preceded by service as an FBI Special Agent.  Dr. Clements has presented on transportation and supply chain security in multiple venues including the Interpol General Assembly, the FBI Academy, U.S. State Department, and domestic and international business conferences.  The Clements Group LLC specializes in providing security management expertise for small and medium companies domestically and internationally with focus on intellectual property protection, brand protection, and supply chain security.
